yearning
yearn·ing
ˈyərniNG/
noun
  1. 1.
a feeling of intense longing for something
It’s no secret that God is a jealous God; in fact, He makes it plain in Exodus 20:4-5:

““You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
However, the idols of this generation are much different and more discrete or subtle than those of past generations.
Money, sex, drugs, status, etc. have worked their way to the top or many people’s priority lists.
What we yearn for most often controls us. It controls our emotions, motives and judgement. We base our decisions off of the possibility of obtaining or losing that thing/person.
Who or what is mastering you? Who or what do you live for?
“False gods never satisfy; instead, they stir up lust for more and more.” – Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
No matter how much money one acquires, how much status or recognition one receives, it never seems to be enough… there’s always room for more.
In the pursuit to acquire and receive more, life becomes redundant.
We search the world for what we can only find in heaven and search in people for what we can only find in God. We yearn for fulfillment and joy but we search for it upon distractions and false gods.
No matter what you do or what you try, it will be a reoccurring cycle, for THERE IS NO TRUE FULFILLMENT OUTSIDE OF THE SON.
“Outside of the Son, life is redundant for there is nothing new under the sun.” – Lecrae
We were all created with a yearning for Christ; with a void that only God can fill, and until we realize that, we will never be fully joyful.
Without the fulfillment of God, we can have it all and still lack everything, we can be full of the treasures of the world but still be empty.
yearning1
Feed your hunger, feed your thirst. But to do that, you must learn what your soul is really yearning for – Christ!
“The glitter of the world is tiny and temporal. The Light of My Presence is brilliant and everlasting.” – Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
Isaiah 26:9At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Psalms 73:25

Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.

Psalms 119:81

My soul languishes for Your salvation; I wait for Your word.

Psalms 63:1

O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.

John 4:13-14

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
