The Lord we serve is not a part time Savior and He isn’t looking for a part time people. Christ wants followers who are willing to give Him everything. Not just a Sunday morning praise or a Wednesday worship but a people who are willing to surrender all to Him. That all includes the good, the bad, the ugly, the shameful…everything. Jesus doesn’t just ask for our obedience, He asks for our hearts. He died that we may have an actual relationship with Him. Relationships require honesty, openness, transparency…Christ wants us to be totally free in Him. He wants us to come to Him with our highs and lows and be open about what we struggle with. He isn’t with us for us to just come to Him with the good and carry our hurts on our own. He wants us to cast our burdens on Him. He wants us to leave our sins and struggles in His hands so that He can cleanse us and strip us of what’s not like Him. We have to be willing to give everything to Christ withholding nothing. We have to be willing to let go of friends and old habits that pull us towards the world instead of pushing us towards Christ…we have to be willing to let go of the world’s opinion of us…we have to be willing to allow Christ to deconstruct that which satan has built up in us…He wants us to follow His Word as It instructs us in how to carry ourselves as people who are in a relationship with Him and He wants us to be willing to allow Him to reconstruct us into who we were originally designed to be.
While on this journey with Christ give all of your baggage to Him to carry. When you stumble, allow Him to pick you up and heal you. If you grow weak, allow Him to be your strength and carry you. Don’t be like I’ve been in the past, trying to do right on my own and carry my burdens in my own strength…all that does is weigh you down and delay your process and growth in the Lord. Christ is looking for a people who aren’t ashamed to proclaim that they love the Lord…a people who aren’t afraid to be transparent about their imperfections but instead use their testimonies to point to the one and only Perfect Living God. Don’t be afraid to relinquish all to Jesus. Don’t be ashamed of being open about where He has brought you from. And don’t worry about what people will think of you for changing the way you talk, walk and think. Jesus withheld nothing from us…not even His life, and we owe the very same to Him.
